Interactive Map
Terra Oblita Memory Map
Terra Oblita Open Memory Map is a joint research project of four universities from Germany, Ukraine and Russia, aimed to note and structure places of memory of the national socialism victims on the map.
The need
History students of four universities have developed the idea to note the places, commemorating victims of national socialism on occupied territories during WW2. A lot of such places exist around Europe. Some are well known, others not known at all. The main idea was to let anybody add and describe the place in their area, so that the information could be further analyzed and classified by the students.
The solution
As a UI/UX Designer in 11:58 Studio I was responsible of developing the full experience of users on their way of adding, searching and navigating the places on the interactive map. There were four main scenarios:
  1. Adding the place to the map
  2. Navigating around the map
  3. Searching for the place of interest
  4. Getting information about the place of interest
The Outcome
The website was successfully launched and served its purpose till the beginning of Russian-Ukrainian conflict, when all the connections among the universities where seized.
